Central laboratory units / Core facilites — Medical Research Centre
Core Facilities have been established to support researchers at the Medical Research Centre by offering specialised knowledge and hands-on assistance in implementing sophisticated techniques and complex administrative processes.
Laboratory animal husbandry
The aim of biomedical research is to improve patient health and quality of life through scientific progress. Animal experiments play a vital role in our understanding of the causes and immunological processes of diseases, as well as in the development of new, safe therapeutic approaches. We consistently implement animal welfare-compliant planning and the ethical conduct of experiments in accordance with the 3Rs principle (Replace, Reduce, Refine).
Services (selection)
Animal welfare consulting and support for animal experiment projects
Breeding and housing of laboratory animals (mice).
Small animal surgical procedures
Training and continuing education on the 3Rs principle.

Microscopy and Flow Cytometry
Our qualified specialists provide comprehensive support to scientists conducting experiments in single-cell analysis and fluorescence microscopy. State-of-the-art equipment is available to enable precise resolution of complex research questions.
Genomics and Bioinformatics
The Genomics and Bioinformatics Core Unit provides researchers with comprehensive support in acquiring and evaluating genome and transcriptome data using bioinformatics. We assist throughout the process, from planning and sample preparation to data processing, and offer individual training to enable the independent use of the systems. In close collaboration with partner institutions, we continually integrate new methods to keep pace with the latest developments.
