Description
Dear colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to the 24th St.Gallen Airway Management Symposium. It is the established Swiss platform for experts who deal with the challenges and further developments in airway management.
Despite standardised algorithms and technological advances, the management of the “Cannot Intubate, Cannot Oxygenate” (CICO) situation remains one of the few emergencies that can make the difference between life and death within minutes. The evidence shows that training, decision-making under pressure and interdisciplinary dialogue remain essential in order to take the right measures in these moments.
Even experienced anaesthetists know: No algorithm can cover every situation. Anatomical variations, unpredictable dynamics and time pressure require not only technical expertise, but also adaptive strategies. The paradigm shifts in recent years – from classic laryngoscopy to video-based procedures, from individual decisions to team-based emergency concepts – show that continuous training remains crucial. The exchange with experts enables questioning proven concepts, discuss new techniques and thus further optimise care.
The Symposium 2025 will once again bring together national and international opinion leaders. Topics will include evidence-based state-of-the-art updates on supraglottic and infraglottic techniques, new developments in video laryngoscopy and fibreoptic intubation, decision-making algorithms for the management of difficult airways, cognitive strategies for high-stakes situations, lessons learned from real-life incidents and much more.
With a focused and practical programme, we provide you with valuable impulses for everyday clinical practice. We look very much forward to exchanging ideas with you!
Sincerely,
Prof Markus Lüdi, MD
Prof Thomas Heidegger, MD
