Description
Dear colleagues
Electromyography and nerve conduction studies are an essential part of the neurologist’s every day practice. While most are familiar with the basics of neurophysiologic testing and the interpretation of results, more sophisticated methods are rarely used in clinical routine. The goal of this course is to equip you with the knowledge about these sophisticated neurophysiological techniques and to improve your skills, performance and sensitivity in the diagnostic work-up of neuromuscular
disorders.
It is a great pleasure that Professor Erik Stålberg (Uppsala, Sweden) and Professor Björn Falck (Turku, Finland) will be teaching again at this International Advanced Neurophysiology Course in St.Gallen, where they will share their enormous expertise on EMG and nerve conduction studies with us. Our aim is to carry on the famous EMG course from Uppsala and to bring it to Switzerland. The course features are a broad spectrum from principles in neurophysiology to the application of more specific techniques like Single Fibre EMG using concentric needle electrodes. Quantitative EMG, motor number estimation techniques (MUNIX), non-standard neurographies and the diagnostic approach in specific neuromuscular disorders are some further topics. Several «hands-on»-sessions will help you to put theory directly into practice.
The target audience are neurologists who already have broad experience in routine neurophysiological techniques. Due to the generous support from our sponsors, up to four Neurologists/Neurophysiologists from countries with low gross domestic product can apply for financial support.
We are looking forward to welcoming you.
