Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to the 9th Annual Symposium «SANCT GALLEN: Science And Novel Clinical Tools in GastroenteroLogy, Liver Diseases, and Endoscopy» in St. Gallen. As in previous years, we have assembled an outstanding faculty of national and international experts to share the latest developments in the field.

The symposium will feature 12 presentations complemented by interactive discussions covering key topics in gastroenterology, endoscopy, and hepatology.

This year, we have slightly revised the format of our symposium following the establishment of the new subdivision «Neurogastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Motility, and Nutrition» within our department. The program will therefore be organized into four sessions:

1. Gastroenterology / Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
2. Neurogastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Motility, and Nutrition
3. Endoscopy
4. Hepatology

Each session will include three presentations delivered by members of our department together with internationally renowned experts, reflecting the current structure and expertise of our department.

Highlights of this year's program include presentations on the sequencing of IBD therapies, therapeutic strategies to modulate the intestinal microbiome, novel endoscopic techniques for the resection of dysplasia and early gastrointestinal cancers, and an update on emerging treatment options for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

A very special highlight of this year's symposium will be the keynote lecture by Professor Charles Rice, recipient of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his groundbreaking contributions to the discovery of the hepatitis C virus. His pioneering work paved the way for the rapid development of highly effective antiviral therapies, making hepatitis C the first chronic viral infection that can now be cured and raising the prospect of its global eradication.

This one-day symposium offers a comprehensive update on some of the most important advances in gastroenterology, endoscopy, and hepatology, while providing ample opportunity to engage directly with leading experts through interactive discussions.

Wir laden Sie ganz herzlich zu unserem 9. Jahres-Symposium «SANCT GALLEN: Science And Novel Clinical Tools in GastroenteroLogy, Liver Diseases, and Endoscopy» nach St. Gallen ein. Wie in den vergangenen Jahren konnten wir namhafte nationale und internationale Experten als Referenten gewinnen.

Analog zu den vorangegangenen Symposien erwartet Sie ein Programm mit insgesamt 12 Vorträgen und interaktiven Diskussionen zu zentralen Themen der Gastroenterologie, Endoskopie und Hepatologie.

Aufgrund der Gründung des neuen Schwerpunkts «Neurogastroenterologie, gastrointestinale Motilität und Ernährung» an unserer Klinik haben wir das Format des Symposiums in diesem Jahr leicht angepasst. Es wird in diesem Jahr vier Sitzungen geben (1. Gastroenterologie / IBD, 2. Neurogastroenterologie / Gastrointestinale Motilität / Ernährung, 3. Endoskopie, 4. Hepatologie) mit jeweils drei Vorträgen, gehalten von Mitgliedern der jeweiligen Fachbereiche unserer Kliniken sowie internationalen Experten. Dieses aktualisierte Format spiegelt die neue Organisationsstruktur unserer Klinik wider.

Zu den besonderen Höhepunkten des diesjährigen Programms zählen Vorträge zu neuen IBD-Therapien, zur therapeutischen Modulation des Darmmikrobioms, zu neuen Methoden der endoskopischen Resektion von Dysplasien und gastrointestinalen Frühkarzinomen sowie ein Update zu neuen Therapieoptionen bei MASLD.

Ein ganz besonderes Highlight unseres Symposiums ist der Vortrag von Professor Charles Rice, der 2020 den Nobelpreis für Medizin für seine Beiträge zur Entdeckung des Hepatitis-C-Virus erhielt. Seine Forschungsleistungen ermöglichten die rasche Entwicklung antiviraler Medikamente gegen Hepatitis C. Erstmals in der Geschichte ist die Krankheit damit heilbar, was die Hoffnung auf eine weltweite Ausrottung des Hepatitis-C-Virus weckt.

Das Symposium bietet Ihnen die Gelegenheit, sich an einem einzigen Tag über aktuelle Entwicklungen in der Gastroenterologie, Endoskopie und Hepatologie zu informieren und Ihre Fragen direkt an führende Experten der jeweiligen Fachgebiete zu richten.
